The hand that we mostly used to do something is different each others. It is more common in today's society to see a person pick up a pen or pencil with a right handed. However, there are some other people that mostly use their left hand to do something. This Left-handedness (also known as cack-handedness, sinister-handedness, sinistrality, sinistromanuality, or mancinism) is the preference for the left hand over the right for everyday activities such as writing. A variety of studies suggest that 10% of the world populations are left-handed. Historically, the left side, and subsequently left-handedness, was considered negative in many cultures. However, I do not mind it. I am left-handed and I am proud of being it.
Left-handed people have always had a reputation for thinking quicker than those, who are right handed. While this does not necessarily mean that left handed people are smarter than their right handed counterparts, what it does mean is that when it comes to tasks such as playing video games and sports, they generally respond faster. The reason for this, according to researchers, is that the connection between the two hemispheres is stronger in left handed persons than it is the other way around.
Another matter which left handed people better than right handed individuals is in the overall percentage of the brain that is used. Researchers have established that multi-tasking just comes easier for these persons. Because their brains are organised differently, left-handers see and think differently and can get some very different results from various "brain tests", usually doing very well on tests that involve creative thinking or unraveling complex images and manipulating 3D images.
Some people say that left-handers have a significantly shorter life expectancy than right-handers. However, it is not true. This got big headlines when some researchers did a study that they claimed showed this. But later, when the mistakes in the study were revealed, the big headlines did not happen, because of course the correction is never as sensational as the original wild claim. So all most people remember is the original claim, not the retraction.
In conclusion, even though left-handedness was considered negative in many cultures, there is no reason I have to be shame of this. There are some facts that proof that left-handed is better from right-handed in some ways. Four of the last seven American presidents are leftie, and they did not change this habit. So do I. I do not want to convert it to the right hand. I am a left-handed and I have to be proud of it.
